1929: John J. Walsh Insurance Agency, Inc. gets its start as the Paul N. Chaput Insurance Agency.
1940: Norman R. Auger acquires the company, advancing it under his leadership.
1950s: Auger changes our name from Paul N. Chaput Insurance to the Auger Insurance Agency.
1960: We moved to our present-day location, 87 Margin St, Salem, MA 01970, at the corner of Mill and Margin Street.
1971: Auger sells the company to the Travelers Insurance Company.
1988: John J. Walsh Insurance Agency purchases the Auger Insurance Agency and Stathopoulous Insurance Agency from Travelers Insurance Company. Both agencies merge into John J Walsh. Insurance.
1992: John J. Walsh Insurance Agency acquires the Elliot Grimes Insurance Agency in Rockport, MA.
1993: Our Gloucester office moves to our Rockport office.
2004: John J. Walsh Insurance acquires the George W. Marquis Agency in Salem, MA.
2009: John J. Walsh Insurance acquires the DJ Donovan Agency in Salem, MA. With the former Marquis & Donovan agency both located in Salem, we merged the two agencies and moved them into our Salem office.
